Overview

Lake Biwa Marriott Hotel gives you a lakeside resort stay in Moriyama, Shiga, with views of Lake Biwa and the Hira Mountains. You stay close to Japan’s largest lake, with Kyoto about 30 minutes away by rail connection and a free hotel shuttle linking you with JR access. The setting works well when you want lake scenery, hot spring bathing, sports facilities, and a comfortable base for both Shiga and Kyoto travel.

The stay brings together lake-view rooms, private hot spring room options, a 12th-floor restaurant, indoor pool, sports facilities, planetarium, fitness center, and dog-friendly rooms. You can spend the day cycling by Lake Biwa, trying lake activities, or relaxing indoors with onsen time and dining above the water.

Accommodation

You can choose from superior rooms, lake-view Japanese rooms, lake-view deluxe rooms, premium rooms with hot spring baths, premium view-bath rooms with hot spring water, junior suites, an executive suite, and dog-friendly rooms. All rooms are non-smoking, and room sizes range from 30㎡ superior rooms to the 80㎡ executive suite.

Superior rooms are 30㎡ and use either twin or king layouts. These rooms face the city side rather than Lake Biwa, so they work well when you want a clean and simple stay with the Marriott feel. Western-style rooms use Simmons beds, and superior rooms include ReFa BEAUTECH DRYER SMART.

The lake-view Japanese room gives you 40㎡ of space with a 10-tatami layout and wide views of Lake Biwa from the window. This room keeps a more Japanese atmosphere while still giving you hotel-level ease, including a 50-inch TV and ReFa hair dryer.

The lake-view deluxe rooms are 40㎡ and come in twin or king layouts. These rooms are designed around the image of Lake Biwa, with lake views, a 50-inch TV, HDMI cable, Bluetooth speaker with clock, and ReFa hair dryer.

The premium rooms with hot spring baths are 40㎡ and face Lake Biwa. You can enjoy hot spring water inside your room, with an open-feeling bathroom and a window between the room and bath area. These rooms include ReFa hair dryer, ReFa FINE BUBBLE PURE shower head, Bluetooth speaker, 50-inch TV, HDMI cable, and humidifying air purifier.

The premium view-bath rooms with hot spring water are also 40㎡ and let you soak while looking out toward Lake Biwa and the Hira Mountains. These rooms are best when you want the strongest connection between your room bath and the lake view.

The junior suites are 58㎡ or 60㎡ and include lake views, hot spring bathing, and a spacious layout inspired by Lake Biwa’s natural environment. The executive suite is the highest room category, with 80㎡ of space and a large view-bath window looking toward Lake Biwa.

Dog-friendly rooms are 30㎡ twin rooms for you and one small dog, generally up to 10 kg. The property has six dog-friendly rooms, and proof of vaccination and rabies prevention is required

Dining

Grill & Dining G sits on the 12th floor, with views over Lake Biwa. You can enjoy grilled dishes using Shiga ingredients, Omi beef prepared in Kansai style, and regional Japanese cuisine made with seasonal produce. The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Breakfast is served at Grill & Dining G as a buffet or à la carte, depending on the day and operating style. For dinner, you can reserve a table in advance, which is the better choice when your schedule is fixed.

The Lounge sits beside the atrium lobby and works well for coffee, drinks, light snacks, or a relaxed pause after sightseeing. Room service is also available, giving you another option when you want to stay in your room.

Food allergy requests should be made at least three days before your meal. Depending on the allergy, you may need to share details by phone, email, or fax using the hotel’s confirmation sheet.

Onsen and Wellness

The hot spring bath is the Sports Bath, using Misaki Onsen water from near the hotel. The water has a reddish-brown color and is classified as a simple hot spring, hypotonic and weakly alkaline. Listed benefits include fatigue recovery, neuralgia, and autonomic nervous system instability.

The bath area includes a large indoor hot spring bath and sauna. You can use the bath in the morning and again from afternoon until late evening, with slightly shorter morning hours on Tuesdays. Children can use the bath once they no longer need diapers.

If you prefer private bathing, choose one of the rooms with hot spring baths or hot spring view baths. These room types let you enjoy hot spring water without using the shared bathing area.

Wellness also extends beyond the bath. You have a 24-hour fitness center with treadmills, elliptical trainer, upright bike, bench, dumbbells, balance ball, recumbent bike, and stretch mat. The indoor pool, gymnasium, futsal courts, golf practice range, tennis courts, and bicycle options give you many ways to stay active during your stay.

Guests with Tattoos

If you have tattoos, you cannot use the shared hot spring bath unless your tattoos can be fully covered with up to two cover seals measuring 8 cm × 10 cm. For full privacy, choose a room with its own hot spring bath.

Facilities

Lake Biwa Marriott Hotel gives you a wide resort setup, with spaces for bathing, dining, work, exercise, family time, and lake activities. You can dine at Grill & Dining G on the 12th floor, relax in the atrium-side Lounge, use free Wi-Fi in the rooms and lobby, and shop at Shop Marriott, which carries Shiga products, drinks, snacks, and travel items.

For active stays, you have an indoor pool, gymnasium, futsal courts, golf practice range, 24-hour fitness center, sports bath, sauna, tennis courts, and bicycle rental through Giant Store Biwako Moriyama. The gymnasium can be used for table tennis, badminton, volleyball, and basketball, while the bicycle setup works especially well if you want to try a light version of Biwaichi cycling around Lake Biwa.

Families can use the first-floor kids’ room, with picture books and blocks for young children. The hotel also has a planetarium, day-use access for selected facilities, coin laundry, elevator, baby cot and bed guard loans, wheelchair rental, bath chair rental, DVD and Blu-ray player loans, humidifier and air purifier loans, trouser press, mobile charging items, and smoking rooms on the first and second floors.

For work or longer stays, Cozy Works LAKE BIWA gives you a resort-style workspace with building Wi-Fi. Meeting spaces and event facilities are also available, and complimentary on-site parking is provided. The current Marriott page notes that electric vehicle charging stations are not available.

Activities

You can enjoy Lake Biwa through cycling, kayaking, SUP, yacht sailing, boat fishing, and morning yoga by the water. The activity program also includes indoor and seasonal options, so you can shape your stay around outdoor time, lake views, culture, scenery, or year-round family activities.

Cycling is one of the best ways to enjoy the area. You can try a shorter “Petit Biwaichi” experience with GIANT cross bikes, then return to the hotel for the hot spring bath, sauna, and lake-view dining.

You can also use the hotel as a base for Shiga and Kyoto travel. Lake Biwa is close by, Kyoto is accessible through the JR connection, and the free shuttle helps you connect with rail travel.
