Overview
Stay close to Lake Suwa at Hotel Route-Inn Kamisuwa, a practical hot spring hotel around five minutes on foot from Kami-Suwa Station. Lake Suwa and the historic Katakurakan bathhouse are both only a short walk away, giving you easy access to the waterfront and central Suwa.
The natural hot spring bath makes this more than a simple business stay. After travelling, sightseeing, or working, you can stretch out in water drawn from the Nanatsugama Mixed Spring and return again early the following morning.
You can begin each day with a Japanese and Western breakfast buffet before walking beside the lake, visiting Takashima Castle, or travelling to the four Suwa Taisha shrines. Complimentary parking also makes this a convenient base when you plan to explore Suwa, Kirigamine, Tateshina, or Lake Shirakaba by car.
Accommodation
You can choose from single, semi-double, double, twin, and family double rooms. The interiors focus on simple layouts that work well for both business travel and sightseeing.
The Single Room measures 12 square metres and includes a 120-centimetre-wide bed. A desk gives you space to work, write, or organise your plans for the following day.
The Semi-Double Room also measures 12 square metres and includes a 120-centimetre-wide bed. The Double Room gives you 15 square metres of space and a wider 140-centimetre bed.
The Twin Room measures 13 square metres and includes two 110-centimetre-wide beds. The Family Double Room has a 220-centimetre-wide bed within a 13-square-metre layout and must be arranged directly rather than through the standard online room selection.
Every room includes a private unit bathroom, television, refrigerator, kettle, tea, hairdryer, work space, telephone, towels, jinbei-style indoor clothing, slippers, and essential toiletries. Complimentary Wi-Fi and wired internet are available in every room.
You can watch WOWOW channels without an additional charge. Paid video-on-demand entertainment is also available through the television.
Non-smoking rooms include humidifying air purifiers. Smoking rooms use ceiling-mounted nanoe air-cleaning units. Both smoking and non-smoking options are available in the main room categories.
Dining
Begin your morning at Hanachaya with a Japanese and Western breakfast buffet. More than 30 dishes allow you to choose a light start or prepare a fuller breakfast before a day around Suwa.
You can combine rice, soup, Japanese side dishes, salads, egg dishes, meat dishes, and other warm food according to your appetite. The selection changes from day to day and may include regional ingredients or dishes connected with the local area.
European-style breads are served on a rotating basis. Coffee, tea, and other breakfast drinks complete the buffet.
Breakfast is normally available from 6:30 to 9:00. The restaurant operates for breakfast only, so you can explore the restaurants around Kami-Suwa Station and the lakeside area for dinner.
Onsen and Wellness
The first-floor communal baths use natural water from the Nanatsugama Mixed Spring. This source combines water from the Ayame Spring with the Nanatsugama Spring, which is connected with Kami-Suwa’s historic geyser system.
The water is classified as a simple sulfur spring with a weakly alkaline, hypotonic, high-temperature character. It is clear and allows you to enjoy the gentle warmth associated with Kami-Suwa Onsen.
Traditional bathing indications include muscle and joint discomfort, neuralgia, stiff shoulders, restricted joint movement, bruises, sprains, sensitivity to cold, fatigue, digestive concerns, and recovery after illness.
Separate indoor baths serve men and women. The tubs give you enough room to stretch your legs and soak after walking around Lake Suwa or returning from a longer journey.
You can bathe from 15:00 until 2:00 and again from 5:00 until 10:00. These long opening periods make it easy to enjoy the spring after a late arrival or before an early departure.
The entrance to the women’s bath remains locked for security. Collect the bath key from the front desk before entering.
Body wash, shampoo, conditioner, skincare products, cotton items, combs, razors, and hairdryers are provided according to the bathing area. You can check the bath’s current level of use on your room television before heading downstairs.
The hotel does not have an open-air bath, sauna, reservable private bath, or room with its own natural onsen.
Guests with Tattoos
If you have tattoos, you can use the communal hot spring bath only when every tattoo is completely concealed with cover seals.
Cover seals measuring 11.4 by 20 centimetres are available at the front desk. You may enter the bath when the seals fully hide all tattooed areas.
You cannot use the communal baths when any part of a tattoo remains visible. There is no private bathing facility, so a separate onsen option is not available inside the hotel.
Facilities
Complimentary self-service coffee is available in the lobby from 6:30 to 10:00 and from 15:00 to 22:00. You can stop for a cup after arriving, before breakfast, or when you return from sightseeing.
A coin laundry and dryers make longer stays easier. Vending machines and an ice machine are also available when you need a drink or something cold for your room.
The front desk remains staffed 24 hours a day. You can store luggage, arrange a wake-up call, send a parcel, or borrow an iron and trouser press. A small meeting room is also available for work sessions and organised gatherings.
Complimentary parking is available for up to 38 vehicles in the flat and underground parking areas. Spaces are offered in order of arrival, and the underground section has a height limit.
A 6-kW standard EV charger is available. You can reserve charging between 15:00 on your arrival day and 10:00 the following morning. The charger works with compatible charging cards and the EV Enechange app.
Activities
Lake Suwa is around one minute away on foot. You can begin the day with a waterside walk, watch the changing mountain views, or continue along the promenade towards parks, museums, and sightseeing facilities.
