Overview

Oedo Onsen Monogatari Awazu Grand Hotel brings you to Awazu Onsen in Komatsu, Ishikawa, one of Hokuriku’s oldest hot spring areas. The hotel is designed for an easy family-friendly stay, with large Japanese-style rooms, a generous buffet, shared hot spring baths, and a large indoor Kids Park.

This is a good choice when you want a casual onsen hotel with plenty to do indoors. You can soak in Awazu’s historic spring water, enjoy the Oedo Mitsuboshi Buffet, choose your yukata, let children play in the hotel’s activity spaces, and use the property as a base for Natadera Temple, Yunokuni no Mori, and other Kaga-area sights.

Accommodation

Awazu Grand Hotel offers Japanese-style rooms in several sizes, from compact rooms for simple stays to large tatami rooms for families and groups. Room options include economy Japanese rooms, standard Japanese rooms, larger two-room Japanese layouts, 30-tatami rooms, and Welcome Baby rooms designed for stays with small children.

The larger rooms work well when you travel with family or friends and want everyone to stay together in one space. The 30-tatami room gives you a wide tatami layout, while the two-room Japanese-style rooms add more separation for sleeping and relaxing. Some rooms include an in-room bath, while others use the shared bathing facilities.

The Welcome Baby rooms are made for stays with infants and small children. These rooms include a 12.5-tatami Japanese layout, safety-focused details, baby-friendly items, and a low-stress setup for crawling, playing, and sleeping.

Rooms include the practical basics for a relaxed stay, such as air conditioning, TV, refrigerator, safe, tea set, towels, bath items, yukata, and Wi-Fi. You can also choose a yukata from the hotel’s yukata corner.

Dining

Dining at Awazu Grand Hotel centers on the Oedo Mitsuboshi Buffet, the group’s highest-level buffet style. Dinner brings together Japanese, Western, and Chinese dishes, with live-kitchen items, seafood, meat dishes, seasonal cooking, local flavors, and desserts.

The buffet may include market-sourced fresh fish, natural bluefin tuna sashimi, black wagyu-style dishes, hot seasonal dishes, tempura, seiro-steamed items, sushi-style items, local specialties, and sweets. The menu changes by season, so the meal feels different depending on when you stay.

Breakfast is also buffet-style, with Japanese and Western dishes that work well before sightseeing or travel. The restaurant includes child-friendly dishes, small plates, baby food, and a play space in the dining area, making mealtime easier when you stay with children.

Onsen and Wellness

Awazu Grand Hotel uses natural hot spring water from its own drilled source. The spring belongs to Awazu Onsen, a historic hot spring area with more than 1,300 years of history. The water is a mirabilite spring, known in Japanese as boshosen, and is described as gentle on the skin.

The shared bathing area includes large indoor baths and open-air baths for men and women. The open-air baths opened in December 2024, giving you a newer outdoor bathing option in addition to the indoor baths. The bath water is managed with added water, heating, and circulation filtration.

The large public bath uses tatami-style flooring, which helps reduce slipping and makes the bath area easier for children. Baby beds and child bath chairs are also available in the bathing area. Bathing hours are set for the afternoon to midnight and again from early morning, so you can bathe after arrival and before check-out.

Guests with Tattoos

Awazu Grand Hotel has shared public hot spring baths. Tattoos are not permitted in the shared bathing areas unless they are fully covered with the hotel’s designated paid cover stickers.

Facilities

Awazu Grand Hotel has a large Kids Park, restaurant, shared indoor and open-air hot spring baths, yukata corner, manga corner, massage chairs, wood-deck terrace, karaoke room, table tennis, game area, shop, vending machines, Wi-Fi, parking, and day-use bath options.

The Kids Park is one of the hotel’s main features. It includes large indoor play equipment, spaces for younger children, photo areas, and activities that help children stay entertained even when the weather is poor. The restaurant also has a children’s play space, so meals feel easier for family stays.

The manga corner and massage chairs give you simple ways to relax between meals and bathing. The wood-deck terrace adds a casual place to sit and take a break, while the shop is useful for local snacks, souvenirs, and small travel items.

Activities

Awazu Grand Hotel gives you a convenient base for exploring Komatsu, Kaga, and the Awazu Onsen area. Natadera Temple is one of the region’s best-known sights, with rock formations, historic buildings, and seasonal scenery. Yunokuni no Mori is close by and offers hands-on craft experiences connected to Ishikawa’s traditional arts.

Families can also visit Ishikawa Zoo, Tsukiusagi no Sato, Motorcar Museum of Japan, Komatsu no Mori, and other local attractions. The area works well for a simple Hokuriku trip that combines onsen bathing, children’s activities, crafts, temples, and local food.

Inside the hotel, you can spend time at the Kids Park, play table tennis, read manga, use the karaoke room, relax in the baths, or enjoy the buffet without needing to leave the property.
